About Digital Scotland

Digital Scotland consists of activity, programmes and projects whose aim is to ensure a world-class, vibrant and successful digital economy in our country. It means extending and improving the physical infrastructure of our broadband networks and also encouraging more and more people and businesses to take advantage of the internet’s benefits.

Digital Participation

Spearheaded by the Scottish Government and galvanised by partner organisations, the Let’s Get On campaign is a concerted effort to help people from all walks of life to get connected and take advantage of the benefits of the digital age. Libraries, clubs and community organisations across the country are supporting the Let’s Get On campaign and offering people the opportunity to join classes and support groups, showing them how to get online and use the internet to their advantage.

Superfast Broadband

Superfast broadband is coming to homes and businesses right across the country and it will make Scotland amongst the best connected countries anywhere in the world. It has the potential to transform the way we live our lives.

Businesses

These days it’s almost impossible to imagine the world of work without the internet. It’s had a dramatic impact on the way that businesses of all sorts and sizes manage their reputations and sell their products and their services worldwide.

Communities

Being connected is vital for communities. Using blogs, forums and social networks to promote and discuss issues or arrange events can keep a community vibrant and active. However, running a business in a rural and remote location can have additional challenges that need addressed in order to stay competitive.
